The Planet of San Diego
The 4,500 square miles which is San Diego County models much of earth; from the edge of the planet’s largest body of water to 6,000 foot mountains, to deserts, both high and low, to inland water brackish and fresh. About the only things we are missing are polar ice caps and a rain forest.
The physical attributes of our region are each represented by a clean technology in which San Diego has a global leadership role including solar, wind and biomass energy, numerous water technologies and much more. For decades the world has recognized San Diego as a hotbed of innovation and invention.
The Time for Action
At a U.N. Summit in 2006 our governor declared, “I say the [global warming] debate is over. We know the science. We see the threat, and we know the time for action is now.”
Green and Green
The focus now is on the two greens. Can the positive economic forces of mankind (currency green) be marshaled in time to save our planet (leafy green)? The involvement of San Diegans in this process of innovation is the focal point of this Blog. You are at the table. You are in the discussion. You are a participant in this unique combination of geography, resources and people which is San Diego.
